We are currently seeking an experienced Tax and Certified Accountant. This role will report directly to the Financial Controller Iberia (placed in Porto - Maia, Portugal).
Responsibilities
• Ensure that all tax and statutory obligations, including preparation and submission of periodic reports (VAT, IRC, IRS, withholding taxes and others) are being complied by law and submitted on time;
• Ensure that the legal changes in force are duly informed to the General Manager and to the Controller so that they can make the necessary internal changes in a timely manner;
• Collaborate in tax audits and provide support to tax authorities when necessary;
• Record and classify financial transactions in accordance with the SNC or other applicable regulations;
• Prepare and keep up-to-date accounting ledgers (journal, ledger, trial balances);
• Present detailed financial reports and analyzes to management, highlighting results, deviations and recommendations;
• Sign and validate the company’s accounts, guaranteeing the accuracy and transparency of the figures reported in accordance with legal requirements;
• Review and approval the Bank, supplier and customer accounting reconciliation;
• Monitor and implement internal controls to prevent errors or fraud;
• Collaborate in the definition of AOP and carry out comparative performance analyses;
• Monitor customs processes and requirements;
• Book payroll, according to internal procedures and in collaboration with the HR dpt.
Qualifications (education, experience and skills):
• Bachelor degree in Economics, Management, Accounting or related areas;
• Accountant enrolled in Certified Accountants Association;
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar position;
• Good Knowledge of English;
• Information Technologies expertise and solid knowledge in Microsoft Excel;
• Knowledge of the Accounting Standardisation System (SNC) and, in international contexts, IFRS standards;
• Expertise in Portuguese tax laws and financial regulations;
• Good communication and team work skills;
• Time management skills, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
• Analytical ability and problem-solving orientation;
• Attention to detail and rigour in meeting deadlines;
• Good communication skills to interact with different stakeholders.
